What kinds of gaming gift cards are there?

Gaming cards come in three kinds: platform wallet credit, in-game currency and store credit for key marketplaces. Wallet credit tops up an account on Steam, PlayStation, Xbox or Nintendo, and you then buy any game in that store. US values include PlayStation at $25 to $250, Xbox at $1 to $100 and Nintendo at $10, $20, $35 or $50.

In-game currency cards fund one game or publisher: Valorant Points, League of Legends, Roblox and Razer Gold. Roblox monetary cards add account credit, not a fixed number of Robux. Marketplace credit such as eneba and Kinguin pays for game keys sold on those sites.

Why does the account region matter for gaming cards?

Because platform wallets are national. A PlayStation code must match the country of the receiving account, and Xbox balances are never converted between currencies, so the card currency must suit the account's jurisdiction. Steam asks you to check the wallet currency; note that Argentina's Steam cards are dollar cards while Brazil's are in reais.

Nintendo's European eShop is looser and honours a card in any country with the same card currency. PlayStation Germany runs from €10 to €250 and PlayStation Norway from NOK 150 to NOK 2,700. Our region lock table compares the console and PC platforms country by country.

Frequently asked questions

Does a Roblox gift card give a fixed number of Robux?

No. Monetary Roblox cards redeem to Roblox account credit, not a fixed Robux quantity. US, UK and German terms allow foreign-currency cards and convert them to the account currency at XE-based rates updated monthly, with no gift-card conversion fee.

Can I use a UK Xbox card on a US Microsoft account?

No. A UK Xbox code (£5 to £100) is meant for a UK Microsoft account in pounds, because Microsoft only accepts card currencies that are official where the account is registered. It also does not convert balances, so a US account needs the US card ($1 to $100).

Which gaming cards have the lowest starting value?

Xbox for the United States and Razer Gold for the United States both start at $1, and Valorant for Germany or France starts at €2.50. PlayStation US starts higher, at $25, and Nintendo US at $10.
