How to redeem

  1. Sign into the intended PlayStation account and check that its country matches the wallet code.
  2. In PlayStation Store on the web, select the profile and Redeem Code; enter the 12-character code and continue. PS5, PS4 and PlayStation App routes are also documented.
  3. For a child’s gift, have the family manager redeem the wallet code to the family manager account, then set the child’s monthly spending limit.
  4. Inspect the resulting wallet credit. Funds or content cannot be transferred between accounts; do not test a gift by claiming it on the sender account.

Which PlayStation card should I buy?

Buy the voucher issued for the country of the recipient's PlayStation account, as set at account creation; Sony does not let you change that country later. The PlayStation Store wallet holds funds for the account's country, and Sony's US terms say it only accepts prepaid cards with currency value from the same country as the account, so a card from another country does not convert.

Agree a sterling contribution without inventing a card size

The current UK issuer overview invites customers to choose a gift through its retail partner, but it does not display a fixed denomination list. Our public partner read failed, leaving the current set unresolved. Treat a proposed pounds amount as a gift budget until an actual supply offer establishes the code. Keep the planned GBP face value separate from the seller’s converted payment price. Once a specific UK product is obtainable, the number of codes and the value carried by each should be visible before the buyer agrees to pay.

A UK account requirement survives a currency conversion

National voucher terms require an account registered in the country to which the code relates, unless the voucher itself specifies an exception. That prevents a pounds price displayed by a foreign retailer from being treated as proof of UK eligibility. Ask the recipient about the account used for their Store purchases, rather than the language they speak or where their console was bought. A visitor currently playing in Britain could still use another country’s account. Preserve the actual card-market label while checking compatibility.

Seven-year account eligibility does not permit child wallet top-ups

The UK voucher conditions allow accounts from age seven with the required responsible-adult arrangement for minors. A different clause restricts wallet top-up redemption to account holders aged eighteen or older. Both statements can apply without contradiction. For a younger recipient, the responsible adult’s family-manager wallet receives the money, and the child’s monthly spending control governs access. Do not decide that a child can redeem money merely because they already have a valid gaming account. Have the adult identify the correct wallet and agree the intended spending allowance. That preserves the family’s ability to manage the gift without sharing the adult’s account credentials or changing the child’s stated age.

Use the console route appropriate to the recipient

UK support provides web, app, PS5 and PS4 redemption routes. In a web browser, open the PlayStation Store profile menu and choose Redeem Code. The guide asks for the twelve-character string and confirmation. On PS5, the Store menu includes a More option leading to code redemption; PS4 uses its Store sidebar. Follow the relevant route rather than looking for exactly the same menu position across devices. The issuer also explains that wallet additions do not require a game download, so absence of a download button does not itself mean money was not credited. Review the resulting account balance before treating a successful funds entry as a problem with the intended game.

Existing pounds in the wallet may already have a purpose

An illustrative wallet might hold thirty pounds while the recipient is considering a digital purchase totalling thirty-seven. That leaves seven pounds to resolve, but the calculation neither establishes a thirty-pound card nor identifies the correct funding product. First inspect what is already in the wallet, what the purchase actually costs and whether another payment method is offered. Existing funds might also be intended for a different purchase. A gift message can explain the agreed contribution without promising that it buys a particular edition or entire shopping basket. This is especially useful when friends contribute at different times: they should coordinate the monetary purpose rather than independently assume the wallet will be empty before their code arrives.

A Plus purchase can create future recurring payments

The UK terms describe subscriptions as ongoing until the relevant cancellation or ending steps are taken, with fees charged at regular intervals. They also explain what happens when wallet funds are insufficient and another approved payment method is available. Giving Store money therefore differs from promising a fixed non-renewing membership. Let the recipient choose the appropriate Plus plan and inspect the recurring price and settings before spending. A sender who wants to fund one period should describe that intention clearly instead of assuming every code is a subscription voucher. The price of a plan and the duration of a money gift are different concepts. The current Store confirmation, rather than the face value alone, identifies the subscription transaction.

The unused code needs its own validity terms

Generic troubleshooting says some voucher categories have an expiry date shown on them, while subscription terms discuss billing periods. Neither statement supplies a universal wallet-card deadline. Historic account-wallet wording is also a different subject from the validity of a newly issued secret code. If the present will be held for a later occasion, obtain the actual card conditions and keep the purchase reference. The recipient should know any stated deadline before deciding when to claim it.

Make sure the recipient wants digital Store credit

The national overview excludes physical products and merchandise from this wallet gift’s uses. A request for a controller, a console or a boxed copy of a game needs a different product decision before any code is ordered. PlayStation Direct is not the digital Store wallet checkout described here. A future operational offer needs the exact UK product, real denomination and conditions confirmed before the service quotes payment and privately delivers a code for the recipient to redeem.

Does a PlayStation United Kingdom code work in another country?

UK voucher codes need a PlayStation account registered in the United Kingdom. Buy the card for the country and currency of the account that will redeem it.

Do PlayStation United Kingdom gift cards expire?

Sony's voucher terms make each code valid for one use and state no expiry date; wallet funds are non-refundable and non-transferable except where the law requires.

More questions about this card

Can a seven-year-old account redeem a wallet top-up?

UK voucher terms distinguish account eligibility from wallet redemption. Wallet top-ups require an adult aged 18+ and child spending uses the family-manager arrangement.

Is Store credit a fixed-period Plus membership?

No. A monetary contribution and a subscription voucher are distinct products. Check the selected plan and recurring-payment terms when buying Plus.

Does a GBP checkout display prove UK compatibility?

No. The actual voucher country and receiving account must match, unless the voucher explicitly says otherwise.
