Which PlayStation card do I need for my account?
You need the card issued for the country of the PlayStation account. Sony's voucher terms say codes are country specific and redeem only on accounts that match that country or region. The account country is chosen when the account is created, and Sony does not let you change it later. For physical vouchers, the country is shown by a printed flag.
Does a US PlayStation card work on a UK or European account?
No. Sony's US terms say the wallet only accepts prepaid cards with currency value from the same country as the account. A US code therefore loads only a US account, and a UK code needs an account registered in the UK. Sony cannot move funds or content between accounts, so redeeming on the wrong profile is final. Sony's support page adds that voucher codes for age-restricted content cannot be redeemed in some countries.
What does a PlayStation Store code add?
It adds money to the PlayStation Store wallet of the signed-in account. Sony's UK page says gift cards can only be used on digital products at PlayStation Store. Physical products from PlayStation Store and PlayStation Gear merchandise are excluded. Wallet top-up codes can only be redeemed by account holders aged 18 or over. Family managers can share the wallet with child accounts and set a monthly spending limit.
How do I redeem a PlayStation voucher code?
Sign in at PlayStation Store, select your profile and choose Redeem Code. Enter the 12-digit code and select Continue. On PS5, open Store, press the triangle button, pick More, then Redeem Code. A 10-digit code is a discount code used at checkout, not a wallet voucher. If redemption fails, sign out and back in to refresh the account. Some retail vouchers carry "no value until activated at register"; if one fails, the store must activate it.
