Why does the recipient's account country matter?
Because most gift cards only work in one country or currency. Apple says a card cannot be redeemed outside its country of purchase: a card bought in France does not work in the US App Store. Netflix accepts a card from another country only when its currency matches the account's billing currency. Steam redeems codes only in a wallet of the same currency. The recipient's home or language is not the test; the account setting is. Compare brands in the region-lock table.

How do I send the code safely?
Send it in a private message to the person, never in a public post, a group chat or a photo on social media. A photo of a code is as good as the code itself. Include the brand, the value and currency, the country, and the redemption link from the table above. Can I send a gift card to someone in another country?
Yes, if you buy the card for the country of their account. A friend in Germany with a German Amazon account needs an Amazon Germany card, not an Amazon US card. You pay the same way from anywhere: the card's price is its face value, shown with its USD equivalent at checkout. Read why a gift card does not work in another country before you buy.
What about Steam Digital Gift Cards?
Steam also sells Steam Digital Gift Cards on its own store, sent straight to a friend's Steam account. That is a different product from a Steam Wallet code. Can I buy a gift card with Bitcoin and send it to a friend?
Yes. Buy the card for your friend's account country, pay in BTC, then copy the code from My cards and send it privately. See paying with Bitcoin.
Should I redeem the code before sending it?
No. Redeeming puts the credit on your own account. Steam, for example, says wallet funds cannot be moved or gifted to another account. Send the unredeemed code.
How long until I can send the gift?
The code arrives in My cards within 24 hours of payment confirmation. Plan for that if the gift is for a set date.
What if the recipient's account is in another currency?
Buy the card in the account's currency. A US$ card generally does not redeem into a euro account; check the brand in the region-lock table.
Can I get a refund if the recipient cannot use the card?
A delivered, valid code cannot be returned, so check the account country first. If we cannot deliver a paid order, we refund the full amount in your coin. See refunds.
