Can I use a US Starbucks card in another country?
Yes, in a defined list. US-purchased cards work at most Starbucks stores in North America, including Puerto Rico. They are also accepted in Canada, England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Ireland, Mexico and Australia.
The value stays in US dollars and Starbucks converts each purchase without a conversion fee. Some branded spots, such as certain airport, grocery and bookstore cafés and stores in Guam, do not take the card.
How much can a Starbucks Card hold?
Each programme sets its own ceiling. A US card can hold no more than $500 at any time, and the usual minimum load is $5. A UK card stores at most £150.
Germany limits loading instead: €250 per month and €5,000 over the card's life. The German card is issued by AmRest and works in its participating Coffee Houses only. Germany is not on the US card's list of countries, so German stores need the German card.
How do I add a Starbucks gift card to the app?
Sign in to your Starbucks Rewards account and add the card. Starbucks allows one Rewards account per person, and all your cards can be registered to it. On the web, go to starbucks.com/gift and click Add. eGift recipients can register the eGift for use in the Starbucks app.
Then pay in store with the digital card. In the UK, paying with the digital card in the app also earns Stars.
Do Starbucks gift cards expire?
No, in the US and UK. Both card agreements say the card and its value never expire, and Starbucks charges no activation, service or dormancy fees. German terms set no fixed card expiry and apply statutory limitation periods. Loyalty Stars are separate: in Germany each Star expires after two years.
Where do Starbucks codes work?
US cards work at most Starbucks stores in North America including Puerto Rico, plus Canada, England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Ireland, Mexico and Australia; some airport, grocery, bookstore and Guam locations do not accept them.
