How to redeem

  1. Use a German IKEA store, IKEA.de or the supported local app flow for the intended eligible purchase.
  2. Choose the gift/refund-card payment option and enter either the card’s nineteen-digit number plus four-digit PIN or its sixteen-character redemption code.
  3. Check the automatically applied amount and supplement any shortfall by an accepted method; keep the remaining balance information and the issuer’s actual activation/validity details.

Which IKEA card should I buy?

Buy the card of the country where the recipient shops at IKEA, in that country's currency. German, Austrian, French, US and Australian cards only work in their own country. The balance is held in the issuing country's currency; where another IKEA country accepts the card, it converts the balance (IKEA Spain charges a 3% fee on non-euro cards, IKEA Australia applies a weekly rate).

The digital euro menu contains six named choices

The German personalisation screen offers twenty-five, fifty, seventy-five, one hundred, one hundred and fifty, and two hundred euros. The purchase FAQ separately mentions a ten-to-two-thousand-five-hundred-euro digital loading interval without establishing an accepted step. Someone budgeting seventy-five euros has a directly named digital choice. For an amount absent from the buttons, inspect the actual custom offer instead of constructing a menu by arithmetic. Neither the full interval nor the largest button proves our current supply of a code.

The linked July 2026 terms and the purchase FAQ disagree

The current digital page links to German gift-card conditions marked July 2026. Their section five says a card is valid for three years from its last reload and that remaining credit expires afterwards. A separate official purchase FAQ says digital cards have no limitation period while physical cards have three years. Both were publicly available when checked.

The terms’ three-year clause refers to the most recent reload. That timing anchor should not be expanded into a promise that a holder can always extend the life of any digital code by adding a small amount. The purchase FAQ discusses different physical, online and external-retailer formats, with different loading descriptions. A forwarded email, a balance inquiry and a new furniture order are not identified as replacement timing events.

A euro balance does not create cross-border acceptance

Germany’s linked card agreement limits redemption to German IKEA stores and IKEA.de. The personalisation page likewise describes use within Germany. A recipient living near the French, Austrian or Dutch border should not assume that common currency or a shorter drive makes the nearest foreign branch eligible. Match the card to the business handling the planned purchase. This differs from programmes whose issuing conditions expressly list several countries; those other programmes cannot enlarge the German agreement’s scope. Check the specific issuing terms before planning an overseas shopping trip.

Use the payment credentials that belong to the supplied format

German redemption help recognises a nineteen-digit card number with a four-digit PIN and, for some digital instruments, a sixteen-character redemption code. It directs the customer to the gift/refund-card payment option after arranging the desired purchase. Keep the emailed credentials in their original form and read which combination the payment screen requests. A code should not be pasted into a promotion field merely because both contain letters or numbers. The help also covers the local app and in-store routes, so there can be a supported alternative to manually copying details into a web browser. None of these instructions requires the purchaser to obtain the recipient’s private account password.

The required purchase amount is applied automatically

IKEA’s German help permits up to ten gift or refund cards in one order. It says the available balances are automatically applied as needed and a customer cannot manually choose a smaller debit from a card. If the card value is insufficient, another accepted method can cover the difference. These rules are useful when several relatives have contributed separate gifts toward furniture. Inspect each remaining balance and the checkout total, rather than assuming that a particular small amount can be kept aside by manually reducing the card payment.

More questions about this card

Does the German digital FAQ agree with the linked terms?

No. The FAQ says digital cards have no limitation period; the July 2026 linked terms state three years from the last reload. Both findings remain visible and unconditional no-expiry use is not promised.

No. The digital buttons are €25, €50, €75, €100, €150 and €200. The separate €25/€40 outside-retailer examples concern another purchasing format.

Can I choose to debit just €5 from a larger card at checkout?

The German redemption help says the required available value is applied automatically and manual selection of a smaller debit is unavailable. A balance above the purchase total remains on the card.
