Does a US Airbnb gift card work for someone living in Europe?
No. Airbnb ties each card to where the recipient lives, not where they travel. US cards are for US residents, excluding US territories, with a US-issued payment method. UK cards need a UK payment method.
European cards cover residents of 24 named countries, from Austria and Belgium to Sweden and Switzerland. EEA residents can redeem a card issued in another EEA country if they hold a payment method from that region. The trip itself can be anywhere.
What can I book with an Airbnb gift card?
In the US, UK, Mexico and Brazil, stays, Experiences and Services. In Europe and Switzerland, gift balances pay for accommodations only. Gift cards never cover changes to existing reservations, Damage Report amounts or other gift cards.
The balance also works with Pay Part Now, Part Later and Reserve Now, Pay Later. If a booking is cancelled, any refund the host's policy allows goes back to your gift card balance.
How do I redeem an Airbnb gift card?
Go to airbnb.com/gift, log in, enter the 19-digit card number and the PIN, and click Redeem gift card. Digital cards can also be claimed by tapping the link in the email or text.
Apply the balance before you complete checkout, because confirmed bookings are final. Check what is left under Payments, in Credits and coupons.
Do Airbnb gift cards expire?
No. Airbnb's US, UK, European, Mexican, Brazilian and New Zealand terms all say gift cards and their balances do not expire, and no fees apply. Once claimed, the balance is locked to that account and cannot be transferred or cashed out. You can stack several cards on one account and spread the balance across several bookings.
Where do Airbnb codes work?
US cards can only be used by individuals residing in the US, not including US territories and possessions, with a valid US-issued payment method.

Can a German resident use a French Airbnb gift card?
Yes. Airbnb lets EEA residents redeem cards issued in other EEA countries, as long as they hold a valid payment method from that region. Both Germany and France are on the European list. Our France Airbnb cards and Germany Airbnb cards follow those terms.
Can I use an Airbnb gift card for Experiences in Europe?
No. Airbnb's European terms say gift card balances may only be used to buy accommodations, and the same applies in Switzerland. In the US, UK, Mexico and Brazil, gift cards also cover Experiences and Services. Our US Airbnb cards include those.
Do I need a local bank card to redeem an Airbnb gift card?
Yes. Each Airbnb gift card programme requires a valid payment method issued in the recipient's country of residence. The account's Country of Residence must also match the card. A UK card needs a UK-issued payment method. See our UK Airbnb cards.
Can I give my Airbnb gift balance to someone else?
No. Once a card is claimed, the balance is locked to that Airbnb account and cannot be transferred, resold or cashed out. Send the unclaimed code instead. You can buy a Mexico Airbnb card with Ethereum and forward the code from your account.
