Redeem an Uber gift code step by step
Update the app
Install the latest version of the Uber or Uber Eats app and sign in to the account that should receive the balance.
Open Wallet
In the Uber app, open Account (or the menu) and tap Wallet. In Uber Eats, tap the Account tab, then Wallet.
Choose Gift card
Tap + Add Funds in the Uber Cash card, or Add payment method, then select Gift card.
Enter the code
Type the PIN or gift code with no spaces and tap Add. The amount appears as Uber Cash or Uber Money.
Pay with the balance
Leave the Uber Cash or Uber Money toggle on at checkout. Leftover value carries over to your next trip or order.
Why does my Uber gift card say it is already redeemed?
The message "Gift code already redeemed" means the code has been added to an Uber account. Uber's first advice is to check with friends or family who may have had access to the card. A redeemed code cannot be moved: once a gift card is on an Uber account, it cannot be transferred. If a code bought from us shows this message, email [email protected] with your order number.
Why won't my Uber gift card work in another country?
Uber gift cards can only be used in the country where they were bought. Uber also says redeemed cards can only be spent where payment is taken in the card's original currency. US terms add that Uber Cash cannot be redeemed outside the United States.
Euro cards follow EEA terms. They are exchanged for Uber Money and used in EEA areas where Uber Money and Uber or Uber Eats are available. Buy the card for the country where the rides or meals are paid.
Why is the app asking me to create an Uber Money account?
In some countries, Uber redeems gift cards into a personal Uber Money account. Uber Money is available only in select countries, so the app checks where you are. Turn on location services: on iOS under Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Uber, on Android under Settings > Apps > Uber > Permissions. In the EEA, Uber may also ask for KYC details depending on the balance.

Can I use an Uber gift card for Uber Eats?
Yes. The same Uber Cash or Uber Money balance pays for rides and Uber Eats orders in the card's country. In the UK, value redeemed as Uber Credits does not cover Uber Eats grocery orders or Uber Boat trips.
Do Uber gift cards expire?
US gift card value never expires and has no fees. French euro cards expire one year after purchase, German euro cards three years after purchase, unless local law gives longer.
Is there a limit on Uber gift card balance?
Yes. A US account can hold up to $2,000 in total gift card value. A UK account can hold up to £3,000 in Uber Money, subject to KYC checks.
What can't I pay for with Uber gift card value?
Uber lists Family Profiles, scheduled rides and university campus card rides as excluded. If the balance does not cover a trip, Uber asks for another gift code or payment method.
