Quick answer
Log in to your Battle.net Account Overview at account.blizzard.com, type the code into the Redeem a Code box and click Redeem Code. The desktop and mobile apps also offer Redeem Code from your profile. A balance card claims only if its currency matches your Battle.net Shop. That currency follows the Country of Residence in your account settings.
Redeem a Battle.net code step by step
Check your Shop currency
Open the Battle.net Shop and note the currency shown. The Country of Residence in your Account Settings decides it.
Sign in to Account Overview
Go to account.blizzard.com/overview and sign in with the Battle.net account you want to fund.
Redeem the code
Enter it in the Redeem a Code box and click Redeem Code.
Or use an app
In the desktop app, click your profile icon, then Redeem Code. In the mobile app, tap your BattleTag and choose Redeem Code.
Shop with the balance
Buy games and services in the Battle.net Shop. Tick the checkbox at checkout to combine balance with another payment method.
How does Battle.net Balance work after redeeming?
The code becomes stored balance on your Battle.net account. You spend it in the Battle.net Shop on most products and services, at your own pace. A purchase that costs more than your balance can still go through: tick the checkbox at checkout and your second payment method covers the rest.
Some limits apply. Balance cannot pay in the Blizzard Gear Store or in console and mobile app stores. It cannot be cashed out or moved to another account. Blizzard notes that extra taxes may apply to purchases made with balance.
How much Battle.net Balance can I hold, and in which currency?
Up to $350, €250 or £200 with an Authenticator linked to your account. Without one, the cap drops to $110, €110 or £100.
Currency matters as much as the cap. A dollar balance cannot buy in the European Shop, which charges in euros. Since 23 January 2025, euro retail cards cannot be redeemed directly on accounts based in Czechia, Poland or Switzerland. Pick the card that matches your Shop: the German Battle.net card for a euro account, or the UK Battle.net card for pounds.
What if my Battle.net code fails?
Match the message to Blizzard's advice.
- "Oops! Something went wrong": the code is invalid. If you used the app, claim it again in your account settings in a browser.
- "Already been claimed": each code redeems once. You may have added it to another Battle.net account earlier.
- Currency not supported: the card's currency differs from your Shop. If you moved permanently, update your country details first.
- Retail card refused: some balance cards must be activated by the cashier before they work.

Frequently asked questions
Can I gift Battle.net Balance to a friend?
Yes. Blizzard lets you gift balance directly, or spend your balance on a Shop product as a gift. A code you already redeemed cannot be sold, traded or gifted.
Does Battle.net Balance pay for a WoW subscription?
No. Blizzard excludes World of Warcraft subscriptions, but the balance can buy WoW Game Time instead.
Can a US account use a euro Battle.net card?
No. The card's currency must equal the currency in your Battle.net Shop, and a dollar Shop needs a dollar card. Choose the US Battle.net card for an American account.
Can I buy Battle.net Balance with crypto?
Yes. You pay the printed value and nothing more, using any of our six coins from Bitcoin to Litecoin. Orders of US$1,000 or less clear without KYC, and the Blizzard code sits in your client area within 24 hours of payment confirmation.
