Which Steam card currency do I need?
Buy the card in the currency of the recipient's Steam Wallet. Steam sets the wallet currency from your address the first time you add funds, and it stays in that currency afterwards. Valve lists "limiting redemption to be in the currency of your Steam wallet" among its anti-scam measures. Does a US Steam card work on a European account?
A US card is made for a USD wallet, so a European account with a euro wallet needs a euro card. Your store country follows your first Steam purchase. Only the physical retail cards. Valve has stopped restocking Steam Gift Cards in shops and expects retailers to run out by the end of 2026. Existing cards stay usable, and wallet codes still redeem on Steam's official page. Can I use a Steam card from another country?

Do Steam Wallet funds expire?
