How to redeem
- In an eligible Romanian store, present the Carrefour gift for full or partial payment of the products. For Carrefour Online, reveal the protected code above the barcode on the back of the actual card.
- Enter that code in the corresponding online field before completing the order. The FAQ states that the online purchase amount must not exceed the available gift balance; do not assume online split payment is permitted.
Which Carrefour card should I buy?
Buy the card of the country where the recipient shops at Carrefour, in that country's currency. Italian and Brazilian cards are spent only in their own national network. Each Carrefour gift card is issued by that country's Carrefour business and holds value in the local currency (EUR in Italy, BRL in Brazil), spent only through that country's Carrefour stores and website.
The Romanian gift holds monetary value in lei
Carrefour’s national gift landing and FAQ describe a load between ten and one thousand lei. They do not show a fixed set of card amounts or establish an increment for choosing between the endpoints. This is monetary shopping value, rather than a subscription duration inferred from a selling price. A recipient should keep the original loaded value separate from the remaining value after purchases. For example, a hypothetical one-hundred-and-fifty-lei starting load followed by forty lei of eligible shopping leaves one hundred and ten lei. The arithmetic illustrates balance consumption without claiming that any particular store product currently costs forty lei or that this example is a selectable preset.
Ordinary store payment and online payment have different limits
The national landing names Carrefour hypermarkets, Market, Express and Supeco, along with carrefour.ro. The FAQ describes using the gift in stores for full or partial payment. For online purchases paid with the gift, however, it says the purchase value must not exceed the available card balance. A shopper should therefore avoid assuming that an online basket can be completed with a second payment method just because a store permits partial gift payment. With a hypothetical one-hundred-and-ten-lei balance, an online basket of one hundred lei fits that documented condition, while a basket of one hundred and twenty does not. This is a checkout distinction, not an instruction to change the gift’s currency.
The protected code is part of the online route
The FAQ describes a code on the reverse of the actual card, above its barcode, protected by a surface that must be scratched to reveal it. The holder enters that code in the corresponding online field before completing the order. These details connect the described online use to the ordinary card; a customer does not need to assume that every gift is initially delivered by email. Keep the physical material and the usable code secure, including after a partial purchase while value remains. A screenshot showing a gift design or an original load is not equivalent to establishing that the current credential is activated and has enough balance for a proposed basket.
One year is anchored to activation
The readable national FAQ expressly gives a one-year validity period from activation. That is different from promising a year beginning at first shopping use, receipt by a later beneficiary or a balance enquiry. When choosing a gift for someone who may wait before shopping, establish the actual activation information and use the resulting deadline in the plan. The programme landing’s shorter statement of one year does not override the FAQ’s more specific anchor. An activation-based term remains a substantive condition even when the card can support several purchases.
Reloading does not answer the expiry question by itself
The FAQ permits loading or reloading at points of sale using their accepted payment methods. It does not explain whether adding value changes the end date of an already activated card. A customer should therefore avoid treating a later load as proof of a new year, or stating categorically that the old end date must remain unchanged. Both claims require the applicable rule. Keep the original activation date and later loading transactions distinguishable when asking about an existing gift. A hypothetical fifty-lei addition to a thirty-lei balance gives eighty lei in arithmetic, but that calculation supplies no information about how long either part remains redeemable.
The card can be given without naming the beneficiary
The national FAQ says the gift is not named and can be used by its purchaser or freely passed to another person. That makes an ordinary personal present different from a benefit documented as restricted to a particular named employee. The landing also offers a contact for organisations acquiring gifts for staff or partners, without establishing different ordinary load bounds here. Identify the actual Romanian gift and its intended destination rather than deriving eligibility solely from the recipient’s relationship to the buyer.
Value cannot simply be moved to another card
The national landing excludes exchanging the gift amount into other payment methods and transferring it onto other cards. A remaining shopping balance should therefore not be described as a general wallet that can be cashed out or consolidated whenever convenient. The same landing disclaims responsibility for cards lost, stolen, deactivated or damaged after activation. If there is a problem, distinguish a damaged credential from a merchandise return or a failed online payment, since each raises a different question. No broad refund outcome should be invented from the presence of shopping value alone.
Separate the Carrefour gift from other Carrefour services
A partner gift redeemed on another brand’s website is not automatically Carrefour balance, and a credit card is a separate financial product. An online balance enquiry is described after choosing the gift payment method and entering the card data, while points of sale can also check the balance. Those issuer instructions explain the programme; they do not confirm a particular outside merchant’s credential, supply or distribution arrangement.
