Quick answer
In the VALORANT client, click the VALORANT icon next to your VP, choose Prepaid Cards & Codes, enter the code and submit. On the web, use shop.riotgames.com/redeem and pick VALORANT. Riot cash codes are region-locked to the server of the region where they were bought. The whole value goes to one game.
Redeem a VALORANT code step by step
Know your region
Your Region of Residence and shard come from where you created the Riot account. Buy the code for that region.
Open the VP menu
Log in to VALORANT and click the VALORANT icon next to your VP in the upper right corner.
Enter the code
Select Prepaid Cards & Codes and type the code without spaces. Some regions also show a consent box to tick.
Submit
Click Submit. Riot says the VP can take up to 24 hours to show in your balance.
Or use the web page
At shop.riotgames.com/redeem, enter the code, log in to the target account, select VALORANT and confirm on the summary page.
Does VP stay on my account or get used at checkout?
It stays on your Riot account. A cash code adds VALORANT Points to the balance at the top of the client, and you spend them later in the store. The code cannot be split: Riot requires the whole amount to go to one game on one account. Before you confirm on the web, the summary page shows your current balance and the amount being added.
On console? Riot says cash codes redeem only in the PC versions of its games. Console players therefore use the web page at shop.riotgames.com/redeem.
Will a VALORANT code from another region work?
No. Riot cash codes redeem only in the region where they were purchased, on the server they were issued for. Riot's examples: US and Canadian cards work on NA, Australian and New Zealand cards on OCE.
Your region was fixed by your physical location when you created the account. It also decides your payment options and currency. For a European account paying in euros, a German VALORANT card fits. An account on the North America shard needs the US VALORANT card.
What if my VALORANT code does not work?
Read the error message, because Riot maps each one to a fix.
- "Does Not Appear to Be Valid": retype the code with no spaces.
- "Not Properly Activated": the store never activated the card, so go back to the merchant.
- "Already Been Redeemed": check your own balance first, since the code may have been used before it reached you.
- "Maximum Number of Code Redemption Attempts": wait 24 hours before trying again.
- "Not Valid in Your Region": redeem it on the server it was issued for.
If the VP is still missing after a day, submit a ticket to Riot Player Support with the code, receipt, Riot ID and account email. A VALORANT code from our shop gets help at [email protected]; mention your order number.
Frequently asked questions
Do VALORANT Points from a card expire?
No. Riot states that its cash codes never expire. After redemption, the VP sits in your balance until you spend it.
Does a European Riot card work for VALORANT?
Yes. Riot's December 2020 notice says European prepaid cards redeem for VALORANT Points, including the older League of Legends card. In North America, Riot's VALORANT cards are separate and redeem only in VALORANT.
Can I change my VALORANT region to use a foreign code?
No. Riot changes your Region of Residence only to match where you physically live. Each transfer starts a 90-day wait and erases ranked season progress, match history and purchase history.
Can I buy VALORANT Points with crypto?
Yes. KYC is not required for orders up to US$1,000. The redemption code shows up in your client area within 24 hours of payment confirmation; see how it works.
