Quick answer
Log in to Twitch, go to twitch.tv/redeem, enter the code and select your country of residence. The value lands in the Gift Card Balance of your Twitch Wallet and pays for Subs, Bits or Turbo on twitch.tv. The card's currency must match the country you live in: euro cards, for example, work only for residents of 25 listed European countries.
Redeem a Twitch code step by step
Log in on the web
Open twitch.tv/redeem in a desktop or mobile browser and log in as the Twitch user who will spend the balance.
Enter the code
Type the code exactly as printed. Twitch accepts codes only at twitch.tv/redeem or during checkout on twitch.tv.
Pick your country of residence
Choose the country you live in. Twitch refuses a card whose currency is not the local currency of that country.
Check your Wallet
Open the account dropdown menu and choose Wallet, or visit twitch.tv/wallet, to see the new Gift Card Balance.
Spend it on the web
Buy a Sub, Bits or Turbo on twitch.tv. On a phone, use bits.twitch.tv or subs.twitch.tv in the mobile browser.
Is Twitch balance stored or used at checkout?
Both options exist. Redeeming at twitch.tv/redeem stores the value as Gift Card Balance in your Twitch Wallet. You can also click Redeem Now inside a channel's checkout and enter the code there.
Twitch then applies the balance automatically to purchases on twitch.tv. If a purchase costs more than your balance, Twitch charges the difference to your saved payment method. A card on file is needed only in that case. Existing subscriptions switch to the balance at their next renewal.
The Twitch mobile apps cannot spend the balance. Subs and Bits bought on the website still show up in the apps.
Which Twitch card works in my country?
The one in the currency of the country you live in. Dollar cards are for US residents, pound cards for UK residents and Australian dollar cards for Australia. Canada has its own dollar card.
Euro cards work for residents of 25 countries, including Germany, France, Austria, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Ireland and Poland. Denmark and Sweden are not on that list. Twitch's own example: a German resident with a US dollar card cannot redeem it. Choose the German Twitch card for a euro account or the US Twitch card for an American one.
What if my Twitch code does not work?
Twitch lists four checks before you contact support.
- Typo: retype the code, and use only twitch.tv/redeem or checkout on twitch.tv.
- Already redeemed: look at twitch.tv/wallet, because the value may already be in your balance.
- Wrong currency: the card's currency must match your country of residence.
- Many cards in one day: throttling and velocity checks can block repeated redemptions.
If your balance looks right and no geo-restriction applies, open Twitch Support and pick the Purchases category. Chat and email are both offered. Got the Twitch code from us? Send the order number to [email protected].
Frequently asked questions
Do Twitch gift cards expire?
No. Twitch says gift card funds stay yours for as long as your Twitch account is active, so there is no date to track.
Can I spend Twitch balance in the mobile app?
No. Gift Card Balance cannot pay for purchases inside the Twitch mobile apps. Open bits.twitch.tv or subs.twitch.tv in your phone's browser instead; the benefits then appear in the apps.
Can I pass a Twitch card to someone who can use it?
Yes. If the recipient's country does not support the card, Twitch allows a transfer to an eligible community member. Reselling the code is not allowed.
How does buying a Twitch card with crypto work here?
Twitch cards sell at face value, and you can settle the invoice in any of our six coins, from Bitcoin to Litecoin. Orders of up to US$1,000 go through without KYC. The Twitch code reaches your account within 24 hours of payment confirmation; the UK Twitch card suits a British resident.
