Redeem a MediaMarkt gift card step by step
Make sure the card is active
Store cards are activated at the till. Posted cards bought online need the emailed activation link; Belgian printable PDF cards activate themselves within 15 minutes.
Shop the issuing country
Fill your basket on mediamarkt.at for an Austrian card or mediamarkt.be for a Belgian one, or walk into a store there.
Pick Gift card at checkout
Choose 'Gift card' ('Geschenkkaart' in Belgium) among the payment methods.
Enter number and PIN
The PIN sits under the scratch panel on plastic cards, or below the card number on printable ones.
Pay the remainder
Add more gift cards or another payment method if the balance does not cover the order.
Can I use part of the balance and keep the rest?
Yes. MediaMarkt Belgium accepts gift cards for full or partial payment, and leftover value stays on the card. You can also combine a card with your usual payment method.
Online, Belgium allows up to five gift cards per transaction, while stores accept any number. In Austria, a card works online only if it carries a PIN code.
To check what is left in Belgium, use the online balance checker with number and PIN. The receipt from your last purchase and the store info desk show it too.
How long is the balance valid?
It depends on the issuing country.
- Austria: five years from issue or from the last use. Once a card is empty and not reloaded within 30 days, it is deactivated automatically.
- Belgium: one year from the day of purchase. After one year from activation, the card can no longer be read and the balance lapses.
Neither country pays out a remaining balance in cash. Some Belgian promotional cards carry their own expiry date, printed on the card.
What if my MediaMarkt card is refused?
First check that it was activated: an online-bought card without its activation click holds no value. Next, look at the basket. Austrian cards cannot pay for marketplace items sold by third parties or outside services such as photo printing.
A card from one country also fails in the other. Lost or stolen cards are neither replaced nor blocked, so guard the PIN.
