Redeem a Kobo gift card step by step
Sign in to Kobo
Log in to your Kobo account on Kobo.com. You need an account to redeem.
Open kobo.com/redeem
Type the PIN into the empty field. It can mix letters and numbers; the digits after 'Card #' are not the PIN.
Submit and confirm
Click 'Submit', review the gift card details, then click 'Confirm'.
Shop with the balance
Click 'Browse now', pick an eBook or audiobook and buy it. Your balance pays first.
Should I redeem to my balance or at checkout?
Both work, with one difference. At kobo.com/redeem the full value moves into your account and the card drops to zero. You can add several cards there, and Kobo shows their combined total for your next purchase.
At checkout, open a book's page, click 'Buy Now', then 'Add gift card'. Enter the PIN in the 'Kobo PIN Number' field, click 'Apply' and then 'Complete Purchase'. Only one gift card can be applied per purchase this way, and any remainder becomes Store Credit.
To see your Store Credit, go to My Account, Account Settings, Payment Information.
Where can I spend Kobo gift card credit?
On Kobo.com, on Kobo eReaders and in the Kobo Books app for Android or Windows. The iOS app does not support in-app purchases. Buy on Kobo.com from your iPhone's browser, then sync the app.
Credit covers eBooks and audiobooks only. A new eReader, an accessory or a pre-order must be paid another way.
For Kobo eGifts claimed in a different region, Kobo converts the value at the exchange rate on the day the recipient claims it.
What if Kobo rejects my PIN?
Most failures are typing issues.
- Card number instead of PIN: ignore the digits after 'Card #'.
- Look-alike characters: Kobo suggests trying a lowercase 'p' for 'P', and 'q' or '9' for an unclear '9'.
- Blocked item: eReaders, accessories and pre-orders refuse gift card payment.
- iPhone app: move to Kobo.com, where checkout works.
