Match the card to its store
Check which store issued the code. An Amazon.com code works on Amazon.com, an Amazon.de code on Amazon.de, an Amazon.co.uk code on Amazon.co.uk.
Sign in to the right account
Sign in to the account that should receive the money. Once redeemed, the balance cannot move to another account.
Open Redeem a Gift Card
Go to amazon.com/gc/redeem, or the same page on your store, such as amazon.co.uk/gc/redeem. In the UK app, open Your Account, then Manage gift card balance, then Redeem another Gift Card.
Enter the claim code
Type the 14- or 15-character code exactly as shown. Dashes are not required.
Apply it to your balance
Select Apply to Your Balance. The funds apply automatically to your next eligible order. You can also enter the code at checkout under Use a gift card, voucher, or promo code.
Why does Amazon reject my gift card code?
The most common cause is a typing error. Amazon.co.uk's help page lists the characters people confuse: 0 and O, 1, I and l, 8 and B, 5 and S. Copy the code from your client area instead of retyping it.
The second cause is the wrong store. Amazon.com cards can only be used on Amazon.com. The Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.ca and Amazon.com.au terms each exclude the other Amazon sites, Amazon.com included. Amazon.fr, Amazon.es and Amazon.it tell buyers to get the card from the site of the country where it will be used. Use the store named on your card.
Third, Amazon may ask for extra checks first. Its terms reserve the right to verify your identity, the card or account ownership before a card is applied. Complete the check in your account, then retry.
What if the code says it was already redeemed?
Amazon shows this message when the code is already on your account or on someone else's. Open Your Gift Card Balance first. Redeemed funds stay there for future purchases, so you never need to redeem the same card twice.
If you own more than one Amazon account, check each one. Amazon says a redeemed balance can't be transferred between accounts, or to an Amazon store in a different country. That is why signing in to the right account comes before entering the code.

Do Amazon gift cards expire?
It depends on the store. Amazon.com, Amazon.ca and Amazon.com.au cards do not expire. UK, EU and Japanese cards stay valid ten years from issue. Amazon.com.mx cards expire after five years.
Can I use an Amazon.com gift card on Amazon.ca?
No. Amazon.com balance cannot be used at Amazon stores outside the United States, and Amazon.ca's terms exclude Amazon.com too. Buy a card for the store you shop on.
Can I buy other gift cards with my Amazon balance?
No. Amazon's terms say gift card balance cannot be used to buy other gift cards. It covers eligible products and services on the issuing store.
