Validity
Matas gift cards are valid for three years from issue and cannot be forward-dated. The receipt, balance service or a store can provide the expiry date.
How to redeem
- In the matas.dk payment process add the gift card under Overview for full or partial payment; multiple gift cards can be used on one order. A physical or digital card can also be presented in a participating Matas store.
- For a third-party-issued Matas credential, online use requires a three-digit CVC according to the FAQ. Gift cards cannot pay the recurring Plus membership or subscriptions.
Four amounts are actually offered in each web format
The Danish digital category displays gifts worth DKK 100, DKK 250, DKK 500 and DKK 1,000, alongside a separate custom-value product. Matas’ physical category shows the same four amounts in different gift designs. Those are observed gift values, rather than prices of beauty products used to estimate a voucher budget. A shopper buying a fragrance should still compare its current price with the actual gift balance. Neither a suggested beauty routine nor a promotional discount establishes another denomination, and seeing a product on the issuer’s site does not confirm that our service currently has that exact card available.
Custom digital and physical limits differ
The gift FAQ allows DKK 50–1,500 for a digital card and DKK 100–1,500 for a physical one. Its higher physical loading ceiling should be distinguished from the four values actually shown in the physical online category, where the largest displayed product is DKK 1,000. No increment was confirmed for either custom interval. If a shared gift budget comes to DKK 725, ask whether that precise value is offered rather than rounding a general range into a promise. The format matters as well: an amount below DKK 100 belongs within the stated digital endpoints, not the physical-card minimum.
Keep the original digital download procedure in context
For a digital card bought directly from Matas, the receipt supplies a link to the order. The purchaser enters the phone number used on that order to download a print-friendly PDF or digital version. The gift can then be printed or shown from a smartphone. Matas also requires digital gifts to be bought individually, without other merchandise in the same order. These are instructions for its own acquisition channel. They should not become an assumed phone-number requirement for every recipient or an instruction to enter another seller’s order details into the issuer’s download page.
Three years from issue, followed by a limited assistance route
The receipt and balance service can show the expiry date, and a Matas store can also check it. The ordinary validity period is three years from issue; the FAQ says it cannot be forward-dated. Contact within one year after expiry can lead to renewal with another three years or payout of the remaining amount. This requires assistance rather than happening automatically when a card expires. A long-forgotten gift should therefore be raised with Matas promptly. The published assistance route also does not resolve every possible fee for an expired card, so ask about that specific case instead of assuming the ordinary cash-out charge is the complete answer.
Pay for an order, rather than an ongoing membership
On matas.dk the gift field appears in the payment process under Overview. The FAQ permits full or partial gift payment and several cards on one order. Physical gifts may be spent over more than one purchase. Recurring Plus membership and subscriptions are excluded because they involve continuing payments. Someone planning a regular replenishment order should distinguish buying eligible goods once from paying for an ongoing subscription. The FAQ further says a Matas card from another provider needs a three-digit CVC for online use. Confirm that the actual supplied credential supports the intended web purchase before counting on it.
A DKK 25 cash-out charge applies per card
Both physical and digital Matas gifts can be exchanged for cash in a store for DKK 25 per card. The same per-card fee is stated for combining gift cards. Using several eligible cards toward a goods order is a different action from merging them into a new card. This distinction can matter for small balances. Keep ordinary purchases, consolidation and cash payout separate when comparing the practical value of the remaining credit.
The digital cancellation wording needs clarification
The general gift FAQ offers 30 days of withdrawal for cards bought online, while the dedicated digital page explicitly says digital gifts cannot be returned and have no withdrawal right. The two statements have not been reconciled here. A person choosing the digital format should obtain a clear answer for that purchase instead of relying on the broader FAQ alone. Store-bought cards have no cancellation right under the FAQ, although the separate paid cash-out route exists. A returned or cancelled gift purchase is therefore different from asking the issuer to redeem the balance for cash.
Greenland and lost cards have express limits
Matas specifically excludes its Greenland store from gift-card use. The general national acceptance wording consequently should not be expanded to every store bearing a familiar name. Keep the number and CVC private while arranging any balance enquiry.
