How to redeem
- Check the card currency and the DoorDash delivery address country before redemption.
- Sign in to the intended DoorDash account, open Gift Card, choose Redeem and enter the gift-card PIN.
- Confirm the credit in the account payment section. Select the gift-card redemption field rather than entering it as a promotional discount.
- Gift-card credits apply to eligible orders. Add another available account payment method if the order exceeds the balance.
Which DoorDash card should I buy?
Buy the card for the country of the delivery address: USD for the US, CAD for Canada, AUD for Australia, NZD for New Zealand. Each card works only for orders in its own country. A redeemed DoorDash gift card becomes DoorDash credit that combines with any credit already on the account; DoorDash uses your address to determine the credit currency, and each card's terms limit it to orders in its own country.
The Canadian amount is a CAD face value
A Canadian DoorDash card uses Canadian dollars even though the amount button shows the familiar dollar symbol. The current country-specific checkout data ties its fixed values to CA and CAD: 25, 50, 100, 200 and 500. An equally sized US or Australian gift is denominated in a different currency and belongs to a different market. For a recipient in Canada, compare the CAD credit that will reach the account, rather than comparing dollar symbols in two browser windows. A converted display price is useful for budgeting the purchase, but it does not convert the underlying code into another country's DoorDash credit.
Separate the presets from the custom-value field
The issuer-linked Canadian shop includes a custom entry between CAD25 and CAD500 alongside its five selected presets. The archived public product configuration records that as a range, without establishing an increment for every permitted amount. DoorDash's business guide lists a different selection including 75, which is a reason to inspect the actual purchase channel instead of combining lists indiscriminately. If a distributor later offers CAD75, its exact code and source must support that amount.
Canadian eligibility follows the local order
DoorDash Technologies Canada, Inc. provides the Canadian gift cards, and the national agreement limits redemption to eligible DoorDash orders in Canada. The account holder must use their own valid DoorDash account. This makes the recipient's delivery location relevant before a gift is chosen. Someone purchasing from abroad should check the Canadian recipient's intended use, rather than assuming the purchaser's location determines the card's currency. DoorDash's help specifically discusses entering an address when a credit-currency error appears.
Account credit can include more than one source
Consumer help explains that previously received DoorDash credit and redeemed gift-card credit are combined in the account balance. If the account already has credit, note that starting amount before redeeming a new card, then check the updated payment balance. This gives the recipient a clearer way to verify the addition than looking only for a second standalone wallet. A code intended for somebody else should be delivered to them without being redeemed by the sender. The national terms say redemptions are final. A practical gift message can identify the CAD value and explain where to find Gift Card in the account, while leaving the actual PIN private.
Remaining credit has no scheduled expiry
Canada's gift-card agreement states that the card does not expire and has no gift-card fees. It also warns that redeemed value becomes inaccessible if the receiving account is deactivated or deleted. Consider a hypothetical CAD100 gift used against an eligible CAD64 final order: CAD36 would be the unused arithmetic balance, subject to the app's actual transaction record. There is no need to invent an expiration date from that example. Keep the account active and check the remaining balance after the purchase. The original receipt remains useful when distinguishing an order dispute from a problem applying the original gift-card code.
Covering an order that exceeds the credit
When the final order costs more than the available gift-card balance, the Canadian terms require the remaining amount to be paid using another method available in the DoorDash account. Review that method before placing the order. Conversely, official consumer help says no primary payment method is needed if gift-card funds cover the entire order. Keep the two totals separate: what is paid to obtain a CAD face value, and what the recipient later pays for an eligible meal or other order. Neither total is established by a currency symbol alone.
Refunds, reloads and excluded purchases
The Canadian agreement says the card cannot be reloaded and cannot be returned or exchanged for cash except where applicable law requires. Eligible order purchases remain subject to DoorDash's refund policy. A cancelled order should therefore be handled through its order support process, with the original funding record available, rather than by assuming the gift-code purchase is automatically reversed. Gift-card balance also cannot be used to buy another gift card, an open-loop prepaid card or a third-party gift card. A recipient seeking a different merchant's credit should choose the appropriate original product rather than expect this DoorDash code to be an unrestricted exchange balance.
