How to redeem
- Confirm the actual national card type and the country of the Apple Account before linking value; distinguish the Apple Gift Card from product-only Apple Store cards.
- To add a genuine code to the intended account, use the App Store account controls and Redeem Code, then scan or manually enter the genuine code as instructed by Apple. Linking moves value to the associated account balance and the original card/code no longer works separately.
- For eligible product purchases, use the issuer’s supported national store, website or app route. A compatible Wallet virtual balance card is a separate representation of account balance, not a new transferable gift card.
Which Apple card should I buy?
Buy the card of the country set on the recipient's Apple Account, not the country they live in today. A UK account needs a UK card in pounds; a German account needs a German card in euros. The card adds Apple Account balance in the currency of the country where it was bought, and it can only be linked to an Apple Account in that same country, so a card in another currency is not converted.
The Australian preset starts at A$30
Australia’s current Apple Gift Card product offers A$30, A$50 and A$100 buttons. Its Other Amount field spans A$10–3,000, with the same boundaries described in Australian gifting help. A$10 is a boundary, not an additional fixed button proved by that menu.
The national gift terms restrict cards bought in Australia and content codes to an Australian Apple Account and purchases in Australia. Before giving value to someone who uses an account created overseas, check the applicable account country rather than relying on the currency shown by a device. Physical-product delivery requirements remain separate from gift eligibility. Using an Australian website or having an Australian payment card does not by itself prove every element of the gift’s permitted national use.
What the unified programme adds to older balances
The current Apple Gift Card covers eligible Apple hardware and accessories alongside Apple Media Services content, apps and services. Australian terms effective 31 July 2024 expressly permit existing App Store and iTunes card/code balances to buy products as well as content. A previous card labelled for products only, such as an older Apple Store Gift Card, remains restricted to products. Identify the generation before deciding what to buy. A current unified gift is also different from directly adding money to an account.
No expiration date means no activity reset is needed
Australian national gift terms explicitly state that the gift card has no expiration date, and the current product repeats no expiry. There is therefore no purchase anniversary, last-use reset or three-year default added to this ordinary gift statement. A promotional bonus can have its own claim period and separate conditions; its deadline does not become the paid card’s expiry. The terms sit alongside Australian Consumer Law and other applicable consumer protections.
Linking value changes how the original code works
Use Apple’s supported Redeem Code procedure in the App Store or another supported app to associate a genuine gift with the intended Australian account. After linking, the original card or code no longer works separately, including in an Apple Store; its money has become associated account balance. For physical-store balance use, national terms describe a virtual Wallet card on a compatible account-linked iPhone or Apple Watch with supporting software and Apple Pay enabled. This is a representation of the same balance. It neither duplicates the funds nor makes the redeemed gift transferable to someone else.
Partial spending and an additional payment
For eligible content, account balance is spent first and unused value remains. Online product checkout draws first on entered gift cards/codes, then on associated balance if the signed-in customer chooses to apply it. An authorised additional payment method may cover a shortfall. National gift terms exclude combinations with Apple Pay, PayPal and payments split across multiple credit cards. The fact that Wallet needs Apple Pay capability for a virtual balance card does not remove that separate checkout restriction.
Auto Reload is not another gift-card purchase
Australian terms describe optional recurring funding of associated account balance. Auto Reload continues until cancelled, with cancellation possible up to one day before a scheduled reload. Examples involving an A$10 funding amount and an A$5 balance threshold illustrate that function. They are not additional fixed gift denominations or a minimum gift-card balance. Apple may pause or disable the function for listed operational or account reasons; that is not an ordinary gift expiry rule. Someone who simply wants to spend a received gift should distinguish accepting its genuine code from enabling future recurring charges against a saved payment method.
Preserve value without treating it as cash
The national terms prohibit resale and buying more gift cards with gift value. Cash redemption and cash refunds are excluded except as required by law, and associated balance cannot be transferred to another account. Statutory consumer protections remain relevant. A non-functioning card/code may have a replacement remedy, which differs from recovery after a lost credential or an unauthorised redemption. Retain the original purchase information and protect the usable code. Returning merchandise bought with gift funds is a separate process from returning the unused gift itself. Neither the documented programme nor its no-expiry statement confirms the activation or current availability of a particular offered code.

More questions about this card
Does spending a little restart an expiry period?
Australian national terms state no expiration date for the ordinary card. No last-use reset or purchase-based deadline is added; promotional bonus periods remain separate.
Are Auto Reload examples additional gift denominations?
No. Recurring account funding and its illustrative amounts are separate from purchasing an Apple Gift Card and its actual amount menu.
